Owner Operator Truck Driving Jobs

An owner operator, as the name implies, is a trucker that owns or leases their own rig. Unlike company drivers, an owner operator is responsible for paying for their own fuel, maintenance and repairs. However, it is the highest paying and most popular type of trucking job since the driver can build equity in their own truck and have much more control over their profit potential. Most new truck drivers start as a company driver and work their way up to an owner operator.

An owner operator is generally paid to haul goods for a single company that they contract to for a set amount per mile. The also have the freedom to haul what they want by brokering loads and/or to lease their truck to a company. In this way, an owner operator can generate more income than other drivers but they also have higher expenses and overhead. On the other hand, they can right off legitimate business expenses on their tax returns so that may not be as big a drawback as it might seem.

All of the carriers listed on our site are looking for owner operators or company drivers that want to lease their own tractor. Many have very good lease programs and have excellent packages designed to give an extremely good pay package for leasing and sign on.
